Michael started playing drums in 6th grade when his parents bought him his first kit, a used red sparkle Ludwig. He spent his middle and high school years jamming with local musicians in basements throughout Ramsey, New Jersey before co-founding his first gigging bands in college and law school. From there, Michael went on to perform in various working bands, playing covers and original material in New York City, New Jersey, and New England. Michael also serves as the percussionist in the St. John’s Pit Band. In 2024 he performed his ninth show supporting the St. John’s Players in an epic performance of Pippin. Michael was honored with an invitation to join Mary’s Basement in 2022 and has had an absolute blast from the moment he became a member. Playing in the Basement has expanded his musical horizons in ways he never imagined possible and the band’s consistent desire to push boundaries and try new material is a rare gift that few musicians are lucky to come by.
